Theaters in Newport County
Boston Automations designs and installs custom home theaters and media rooms in Newport County, Rhode Island, including Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth and Jamestown. We plan the picture, sound, lighting, shades and control together, so the room works for a full house in August and a quiet night in February. Our theater at The Staycation Estate won Bronze in the CE Pro 2026 Home of the Year Awards.
Shore houses fill up with kids, grandkids and friends on summer weekends, and when it rains everyone ends up in one room. A media room or theater built for that has enough seats, a screen everyone can see, and controls that a nine-year-old and a grandparent can both use. We plan the seating, sightlines and remote around the people who will actually be in the room.
Most rooms in a waterfront house were designed around the windows, and that's easy to work with. Lutron motorized shades with blackout fabric let a sunny family room become a dark media room with one press, then open back up to the water when the movie ends.
If there's a carriage house, a bonus room or a basement with fewer windows, a dedicated theater becomes an option too.
A good media room starts with a screen size that fits the room and the seating. Sound comes from in-wall or in-ceiling speakers from James Loudspeaker or Sonance, so nothing sits on the floor where kids and dogs run through. The lights and shades are on the same remote as the TV, and the room ties into the rest of the house through Savant, Control4 or Crestron.
Since summer here is spent outside, we add outdoor TVs and speakers for porches, patios and pool areas. We choose equipment made for exterior use and tie it into the same control system as the theater, so the game can move outside without a second remote. Our home audio and video services cover outdoor sound in more detail.
In a second home, the theater can sit unused for months. Our service plans cover support after the install, so you have one call to make if something isn't working when you arrive for the season.
The home theater at The Staycation Estate won Bronze for Best Home Theater Over $100,000 in the CE Pro 2026 Home of the Year Awards, alongside a Gold for the whole house.
