Home automation
Boston Automations is a family-owned home automation company serving Greater Boston from our headquarters in Norwood. We design, install and program systems that run lighting, shades, music, TVs, Wi-Fi, climate and security from one app and a few well-placed keypads. We're an authorized dealer for Savant, Control4, Crestron and Lutron.
Our Fayette project in Cambridge, with Lutron Palladiom shades and Sunnata dimmers
Lighting control sets each room with one press and runs schedules on its own.
Motorized shades follow the sun, give you privacy at night and close when you leave.
Whole-home music plays through hidden or small-aperture speakers in the rooms you choose.
TVs and home theaters run from one remote, with the lights and shades set for the movie.
Wi-Fi and networking keep every device online across the whole house.
Security and climate put cameras, locks and thermostats in the same app as everything else.
We're an authorized dealer for the main control platforms. Savant suits larger homes where a simple app comes first. Control4 fits a wide range of homes and products. Crestron gives the deepest custom programming. For lighting and shades, we install Lutron. We'll recommend a platform after we see the house and hear how you want to live in it.
Brownstones and townhouses in Back Bay, Beacon Hill and the South End have plaster walls, original trim and very little room for equipment. We use wireless lighting control and battery shades where we can, and find space for a compact equipment rack in a closet or the basement.
Condo buildings often limit what can be opened and when work can happen. We plan the job around those requirements and keep the visible technology to a few keypads and a clean wall.
In Newton, Wellesley, Weston, Lexington and on the South Shore, we like to join at the architecture stage and wire during framing. That's when you get shade pockets, clean ceilings, keypads in the right places and a network that reaches every corner.
W Newton in the South End is a new single-family home with ceilings of about 11 feet and a rear glass curtain wall, with a custom Lutron shading system and integrated smart home technology.
Fayette in Cambridge is a modern home with Lutron Palladiom wireless shades, Sunnata dimmers and custom keypad scenes.
Manomet Point in Plymouth is a Queen Anne restoration with Control4 lighting, Sonance distributed audio, battery backup for the equipment and contact sensors. More finished homes are in our project portfolio.

A home automation company designs, installs and programs the technology in a home. That covers lighting control, shades, audio, video, Wi-Fi, security and climate, all tied into one control system that you run from an app or keypads.
Yes, in brownstones and older homes we use wireless lighting control and battery shades where we can, so plaster walls and original trim stay intact. We'll tell you at the walkthrough what needs new wiring.
Bring us in at the architecture stage so we're involved before framing starts. That's when wiring, shade pockets, speaker locations and equipment space get planned. Once the drywall is up, the options shrink.
It depends on the house. Savant suits large homes where a simple app comes first, Control4 covers a wide range of homes, and Crestron offers the deepest custom programming. We install all three and recommend one after we see the home.
It depends on the size of the home, which systems you want and whether it's new construction or a finished house. After a short consultation, our team gives you a clear proposal.
