The home and the goal
The house has a library with dark paneling, a family room with a fireplace, a parlor with bay windows and a pool and outdoor kitchen behind it. The owners wanted music in the main rooms and by the pool, a TV in most rooms, easy lighting, and a house they could check on from away.
They also wanted none of it to show. Speakers on the library's paneled walls or a black box over the fireplace would have spoiled the rooms they restored.

The hard part
We used Sonance IS8 invisible speakers in the library and family room. They sit behind a thin skim coat of plaster and paint and cannot be seen once finished. Over the family room fireplace, a Samsung Frame TV looks like art when it is off. Bedrooms got Sony TVs on articulating mounts.
Lighting runs on Control4, with keypads in every room and Control4 Halo remotes. We added hidden tape lighting in toe-kicks, cabinets and closets, with sensors so closet lights turn on when the door opens. Outside, an outdoor shower keypad sits in a waterproof box, and the outdoor kitchen has Coastal Source counter lighting.

The result
Around the pool, Sonance landscape speakers and a Coastal Source bollard subwoofer play music without looking like speakers. A Marantz Cinema 60 receiver runs the main TV room. Sonance amplifiers drive the rest of the house, SurgeX battery backup protects the equipment, and contact sensors tell the owners when doors open. We still look after the house, adding cameras and a video doorbell in 2025 and 2026.

Yes. Sonance invisible speakers are designed for music and TV in main rooms. They suit historic and paneled rooms where a grille would look out of place.
We plan wire runs through attics, basements and closets, use wireless where it makes sense, and choose equipment that disappears into the finishes. Read more about our home theaters and home audio.
