Home automation in Newport County
Boston Automations is a home automation company serving Newport County, Rhode Island, including Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth on Aquidneck Island, and Jamestown. We design, install and program systems for waterfront, historic and second homes. Lighting, shades, music, Wi-Fi, cameras and climate run on one app, and you can keep an eye on the house in the months you're away.

A lot of Newport County houses are lived in for the summer and a few weekends, then closed up for the rest of the year. The technology has to look after the house when you can't.
Cameras and door locks can be checked from anywhere, so you know the house is secure.
Connected thermostats and sensors can alert you if the house gets too cold, and you can raise the heat from your phone.
Lighting schedules keep the house from looking empty while you're away.
Our service plans give you one number to call if something needs attention when you're not there.
Salt air, wind and storms come with the view. We plan where the equipment lives in the house and choose outdoor speakers, TVs and lighting made for exterior use, so the system holds up through the seasons.
Waterfront lots are long, and the house is rarely the only building. We design the network to reach the guest house, the pool area and the yard, then add outdoor audio and landscape lighting so the outside is as usable as the inside. Our Wi-Fi and networking services explain the network side.
From colonial houses to Gilded Age estates, Newport's older homes deserve careful work. We use wireless lighting control and battery shades where they make sense, run wiring through existing paths when we can, and coordinate with your architect and builder on anything that touches original finishes.
Our Newport County project in Little Compton has a main house, a guest house, outdoor areas and a basement, all run by one system. It uses Lutron lighting and shading, Control4, Sonance IS8 invisible speakers and pre-wiring for future upgrades.
At Indian Ave in Portsmouth, a waterfront home, we designed a custom landscape lighting plan with low-voltage bollards that makes the grounds look better at night and feel more secure.
Across the bay, our oceanfront project in Narragansett received a CE Pro Home of the Year Award and led to our 2024 Lutron Excellence Award and Hall of Fame induction. You'll find more in our project portfolio.
Much of our work comes through architects, builders and designers. If you already have a team, we'll fit into it, join the planning early and keep everyone working from the same drawings.
We work in Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth and Jamestown and across Aquidneck Island. Our Newport County work also includes Little Compton, and we work in Narragansett too. We are an authorized dealer for Savant, Control4, Crestron and Lutron in Newport County, and we also design and build home theaters here. It's mostly about looking after the house while you're away. Cameras, door locks, climate alerts and lighting schedules all run from one app. When you're there, the same system runs the lights, shades, music and TVs.
Yes, connected thermostats and sensors can send an alert to your phone if the temperature drops, and you can raise the heat from the app. It's one of the most useful features in a house that sits empty for the winter.
Yes, we design the network for the whole property, with wired connections between buildings where possible and outdoor access points where you need coverage outside. Once the network reaches everywhere, the app, music and cameras work in every building.
