Newport County audio
Boston Automations designs and installs whole-home and outdoor audio in Newport, RI and across Newport County. You choose the music on your phone and play it in one room, a few rooms or the whole property, from the kitchen out to the porch, the pool and the lawn.

The living room at our Little Compton project, where the speakers are hidden in the walls
Most people want the sound without looking at speakers. In-ceiling speakers with thin grilles disappear into the room, and invisible speakers go behind a skim coat of plaster so there's nothing on the wall at all.
In Newport's older houses that matters even more. We place speakers to keep the plaster, trim and ceilings intact, and plan the wiring through attics, basements and closets.
These are the parts we design for most Newport County homes.
Zones for each room or group of rooms, so the kitchen can play one thing while the den plays another.
In-ceiling and invisible speakers from James Loudspeaker and Sonance, matched to the size of the room.
Outdoor speakers for the porch, the pool and the lawn, with a buried subwoofer when you want real bass outside.
Amplifiers in one rack in a closet or the basement, instead of a box in every room.
One app and keypads so you can start the music from your phone, a keypad by the door or the same remote as the TV.
Salt air and wind are hard on outdoor speakers. Near the water we use marine-rated speakers, keep the amplifiers indoors and seal the connections.
On a big lawn, a few loud speakers near the house sound worse than more speakers playing quietly across the yard. We spread them out so the music is even where people sit, and keep it from carrying to the neighbors.
The same speakers that play music can carry the sound for the TV. In a family room we often build the TV sound into the ceiling or a custom soundbar under the screen, so there's one set of speakers and one remote.
When a room is a real home theater, it gets its own speakers and equipment, planned for the seats. We'll tell you which approach fits the room.
Our Little Compton project uses Sonance invisible speakers in the main house, with Control4 running the music along with the lights and shades.
At our oceanfront home in Narragansett, James Loudspeaker in-ceiling and marine outdoor speakers play throughout the house and out to the patio. The project won the 2024 Sonance and James Loudspeaker Project of the Year award.
At The Staycation Estate in Needham, landscape speakers and a bollard subwoofer play around the pool.
Newport's summer houses get the most use from June to September, when the porch and the lawn matter as much as the living room. We plan outdoor sound for the way you entertain, and set it up so it's ready to play the day you open the house. We install audio in Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth, Jamestown, Tiverton and Little Compton, a little over an hour from our office in Norwood.
If you also want a theater or media room, see home theater installation in Newport County, and for music and video across the house, our home audio and video services.

Yes. Sonos works well as the streaming source, and we often pair it with in-ceiling speakers and amplifiers in a central rack so you get better sound without boxes in every room.
Speakers rated for marine use, with sealed connections and the amplifiers kept indoors. We choose them for the spot, whether that's a covered porch or an open lawn facing the water.
In most cases, yes. We plan the wiring through attics, basements and closets and place the speakers where they do the least harm to plaster and trim.
Yes. With Savant, Control4 or Crestron, music sits in the same app and on the same keypads as the lights, shades and climate.
