An oceanfront house that hides its technology

12 Seagate Drive sits on the water in Narragansett, Rhode Island. The brief was straightforward and unforgiving: the house had to do everything, and none of it could show.

That constraint shaped every decision. Lighting is delivered almost entirely from concealed sources — cove details, backlit millwork, and perimeter washes that light the cedar ceilings without a single fixture drawing attention. Shades sit in pockets. Speakers sit behind the finish. The residential elevator is wrapped in reeded millwork and gives itself away only by a keypad finished to match the wall.

What the family actually touches is one app and a handful of keypads. Behind them: whole-house lighting, automated shading, distributed audio and video, climate, security, and an enterprise-grade network holding it together. You can see more of the full Seagate project in our portfolio.

The CE Pro Home of the Year Awards are the longest-running project awards in custom integration. Winners are chosen by an independent panel of industry judges on how well a project overcomes real constraints — architecture, budget, timeline — and on the originality of the result. The 2025 program drew 119 entries across 22 categories, and winners were announced at a ceremony during CEDIA Expo 2025 in Denver.
